In Greek mythology, we find the first literary figure associated with the idea of revenge. Within the vast array of characters representing the virtues and flaws of the human soul, we encounter Nemesis, a deity with feminine forms who punished all acts of excess committed by humans, employing revenge as the most effective means to restore the order disrupted by those acts. The truth is that from the time of the Greeks to the present, humankind has changed little, and to this day, no divine intervention has been able to eradicate revenge, understood as the need to take justice into one's own hands, even if it only provides temporary relief from the pain inflicted.
